Cayenne Pepper – Capsicum annuum
Cayenne pepper is named for the city of Cayenne in French Guiana. Cayenne is used in spicy dishes in Mexican, Korean, Szechuan and many other cuisines. Most Cayenne peppers are rated at 30,000 to 50,000 Scoville units.
Safety: Those with gastric ulcers, inflammatory bowel disease or related issues should avoid use of Cayenne. Excessive consumption can result in acute gastritis. Avoid contact with eyes and sensitive areas. Do not apply to broken skin.
