Nag Champa is a fragrance of Indian origin. It is used in incense, soap, perfume oil, essential oils, candles and personal toiletries, and is common in ashrams. Introduced to the U.S. by the hippies in the 1960s, it has become one of the most popular and recognizable incense fragrances.
Satya Sai Baba Nag Champa is made in India by the Shrinivas Sugandhalaya company. Each stick is a special blend of natural herbs, resins, flowers and oils that are hand rolled. Mysore sandalwood oil and a number of incredibly fragrant gums help to hold the incense together and ensure a long and satisfying burn. Giving off a steady and balanced smoke, the smell is distinctive and not too overpowering. There is a slight perfume to the sticks that is fresh, woody and exotic. Each stick burns for approximately 45 to 50 minutes. Once in awhile you might get a box of incense sticks that are dark brown and tan. This is an indication that they have been sitting on the shelf of the store for a long time and/or they have been exposed to higher levels of environmental moisture. This is not the fault of the manufacturer or retailer and the product is still completely viable, they will just be a bit more difficult to light and their fragrance will be minutely less pronounced. This is uncommon, but worth mentioning.
Some people choose to create a haven for themselves somewhere in their home, a place where they can find some solitude and reconnect with themselves. While other incense fragrances are more common for home decor and scent, Nag Champa is primarily used for meditation and for creating that spiritual, sacred space in your home. Nag Champa sticks and cones burn slowly and allow you plenty of time to gather your thoughts while you meditate and reflect on the day.
