What is Wormwood?
Wormwood is Artemisia absinthium, a silver-green aromatic herb in the daisy family (Asteraceae), famous as the historical defining botanical of absinthe. The dried aerial parts are offered here.
About the plant
Native to temperate Europe, Asia, and North Africa, wormwood is intensely bitter, a quality long used in flavoring and in classic European herbal bitters. Its characteristic compound is thujone. We also offer an Oregon-grown version.
