About the book
All New Square Foot Gardening by Mel Bartholomew is the foundational text of the square foot method, one of the most practiced small-space gardening systems in the world. The idea: divide a raised bed into a grid of one-foot squares, plant each square at a density suited to the crop, one tomato, four lettuces, sixteen carrots, and fill the bed with his famous soil blend of equal parts compost, peat moss, and vermiculite. The result is a garden that fits on a patio and wastes almost nothing.
About the author
Mel Bartholomew (1931-2016) was an engineer by training, and it shows: the method is systematic, efficient, and forgiving of beginners. The raised-bed format also makes it one of the most accessible systems for gardeners who cannot work at ground level.

I go to the Herb Stomp locations on Belmont and Sandy. The staff there have always been knowledgeable, gracious, and welcoming. I particularly like discovering new products that I would not have ordering my purchases from an online vendor. 5/5 would go again.
