What is Cinnamon Leaf Essential Oil?
Cinnamon Leaf Essential Oil is the steam-distilled essential oil of Cinnamomum verum, in the Lauraceae family,. It is drawn from the leaves of the plant. It comes from the leaves of the Ceylon cinnamon tree, and is distinct from cinnamon bark oil.
About the oil
Cinnamon leaf essential oil is distilled from the leaves of Cinnamomum verum, Ceylon cinnamon. Unlike cinnamon bark oil, which is dominated by cinnamaldehyde, the leaf oil is dominated by eugenol, so it reads as more clove-like than sweet-cinnamon, and it is generally more affordable than the bark oil.
Three different oils are made from cinnamon-family trees, each with a distinct profile: Ceylon cinnamon bark oil (delicate, cinnamaldehyde-rich), cassia bark oil (very high cinnamaldehyde), and this Ceylon cinnamon leaf oil (eugenol-rich and clove-like).
