What is Citronella Essential Oil?
Citronella Essential Oil is the steam-distilled essential oil of Cymbopogon nardus, in the Poaceae family, a plant native to tropical Asia. It is drawn from the grass leaves of the plant. Citronella grass is a tall tropical grass closely related to lemongrass.

Citronella essential oil is distilled from Cymbopogon nardus, citronella grass, a tall tropical grass grown across Sri Lanka, Indonesia, and Java. It is closely related to lemongrass and shares a bright lemony-grassy scent, carried largely by citronellal and geraniol. The scent is widely familiar from outdoor candles and summer patios.
Citronella belongs to the same genus (Cymbopogon) as lemongrass, and the two are often used together in scent blends.
