About the oil
Lime essential oil comes from the peel of Citrus aurantifolia and is rich in limonene. It is produced two ways with different properties. Cold-pressed lime oil is more aromatic and true to the fresh fruit but contains furocoumarins that make skin sensitive to sunlight. Steam-distilled lime oil is a little less intense in scent but has no significant photosensitivity, which makes it the safer choice for anything applied to skin.
Lime is a bright, tart note used in perfumery, cleaning products, and beverage flavoring.
