What is Vetiver Essential Oil?
Vetiver Essential Oil is the steam-distilled essential oil of Chrysopogon zizanioides, in the Poaceae family, a plant native to South India. It is drawn from the roots of the plant. It is distilled from the roots of a tall South Indian grass; this batch is Haiti-grown.
About the oil
Vetiver essential oil is distilled from the roots of Chrysopogon zizanioides (formerly Vetiveria zizanioides), a tall perennial grass native to South India. The plant's dense root system can grow eight to ten feet deep, which also makes it an important erosion-control plant, and those washed, dried roots are steam-distilled into one of the most distinctively earthy oils available. This batch is grown in Haiti, a major producer of fine vetiver.
Known as khus in India, vetiver has a long history in Indian tradition and in cooling summer drinks, and it is treasured in perfumery as an excellent fixative base note.

The aroma of vetiver oil is deeply earthy, woody, and smoky, with subtle sweet notes.
